A Brazilian butt lift is a way to enhance the size and shape of your backside, using your fat cells for a natural augmentation process. The fat is removed from one area of the body via liposuction and then injected into the buttocks to create fuller curves. If a Brazilian butt lift is a possibility for you, you may be thinking about the buttock shape that will complement your body profile best. There is an assortment of buttock shapes that have been identified, giving you an idea of how to work with your natural curves to achieve the most beautiful derriere possible.

Buttock Shapes

Different factors go into determining the shape of your bum, including the position of your hip bones and pelvis, the amount of adipose tissue (fat) and its distribution and the size of your gluteal muscles. There are five basic categories of buttock shapes:

Round

The coveted round buttocks have come into vogue thanks to the well-endowed backsides of celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian. This buttock shape is characterized by full hips and shapely curves that fill out jeans and your favorite pencil skirts perfectly. While there are exercises that produce a rounder shape over time, the Brazilian butt lift is tailor-made for achieving this derriere shape for those that want the curves where they count. The double benefit of liposuction to trim up the midsection above the buttocks further enhances this figure.

A-Shape

This buttock contour is often seen on pear-shaped women that tend to be smaller in the chest and wider in the hips. Like the pear shape, the buttocks on these women begin narrower at the waistline and grow wider just below the hips. A Brazilian buttock lift can further accentuate the curves below or add a bit of volume above to create a rounder shape. Some women with this shape like to have their liposuction around the thighs to create a sleeker line below the buttocks as well.

Heart

An upside-down heart shape is similar to the A-frame but with softer curves overall. The narrower waistline transitions to round buttocks that are fullest in the hips. However, the hip width tends to be rounder, creating sensuous curves without sacrificing fullness in the backside. A Brazilian buttock lift may be used on this shape to create additional size and fullness or add a bit more volume above to even out the proportions.

Square

Also known as the H-shape, this buttock contour features straight lines from the waist to the thighs without a lot of curves in between. It can be formed by fat developing along the flanks or by a higher hip bone. Women with a square butt often seek out a Brazilian butt lift to add a few curves they are currently missing. In addition, patients with this shape often want to trim up the waistline with liposuction to create more definition in the middle.

V-Shape

The V-shape is a frequent issue for women as they age and fat distribution moves from the buttocks to the midsection. This shape is characterized by more fullness on the top and fewer curves below. There can also be some sagging with this bum as age and gravity also take their toll. The key to improving the V-shape buttocks with a Brazilian butt lift is to remove some of the fat from on top and placing it on the cheeks to create some roundness and curves.

No matter what type of buttock shape you have currently, Dr. Patel can discuss your concerns and desired results to determine whether a Brazilian butt lift can help you reach your goals. In addition to wanting to enhance the appearance of the buttocks, you must have sufficient fat in another area to remove and use for the augmentation portion of the procedure.

Steps in a Brazilian Butt Lift

Dr. Patel performs Brazilian buttock lifts in his Freehold office using local anesthesia in most cases. Tumescent liposuction is used to remove the unwanted fat from areas like the abdomen, flanks, back and thighs. This procedure uses tiny incisions that allow for the insertion of the cannula, which loosens the fat cells and gently suctions them out of the body. Because the incisions are so small, they do not require sutures and leave almost no visible scarring after the procedure.

While you rest from the liposuction treatment, Dr. Patel prepared the removed fat cells for injection into the buttocks. A series of injections are strategically placed to ensure the result is smooth, even and natural-looking. While the injections are relatively comfortable and leave no scarring behind, you will need to remain off your buttocks for a few weeks to ensure the best outcome from your augmentation. Most of our patients enjoy their fuller, more curvaceous backside for many years after this procedure.
